The Popularity Of BOTOX

August 6th, 2010 Dr Adel Cosmet Comments off

BOTOX is a prescription medicine that is injected into muscles and used to treat different muscle problems. It is prescribed to treat the abnormal head position and neck pain that happens with cervical dystonia (CD) in adults and to treat certain types of eye muscle problems (strabismus) or abnormal spasm of the eyelids (blepharospasm) in people who are equal to or older than 12 years. Botulinum toxin is a lethal naturally occurring substance, but when carefully isolated and purified can be used as an effective and powerful medication.

BOTOX for cosmetic indications is a simple, physician-administered, non-surgical treatment that can temporarily smooth moderate to severe excessive sweating, forehead Lines, frown Lines and crow’s Feet. It is the only therapy that is approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration (US FDA). BOTOX is also injected into the skin to treat the symptoms of severe underarm sweating, also known as severe primary axillary hyperhidrosis, when medicines used on the skin do not work well.

Botulinum toxin is a medication and a neurotoxic protein produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum, and is known to be very toxic with an LD50 of roughly 0.005-0.05 g/kg. Despite its deadly toxic effect, a few times it is also used in very small doses to treat muscle spasms.

In cosmetics, a Botox injection that consists of a small dose of botulinum toxin can be used to prevent formation of wrinkles by paralyzing facial muscles. The wrinkle preventing effect of Botox lasts for approximately 3-4 months, up to 6 months. The providers of Botox Cosmetics include dermatologists, plastic surgeons, cosmetic physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, physician assistants, and medical spas.

Botox, in addition to its cosmetic applications, is also currently used in the treating spasms and dystonias, which it effectively suppresses for 60-70 days. The main conditions include: Cervical dystonia (spasmodic torticollis) (a neuromuscular disorder involving the head and neck), Blepharospasm (excessive blinking), Severe primary axillary hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating), Achalasia (failure of the lower oesophageal sphincter to relax), Local intradermal injection of BTX-A is helpful in chronic focal painful neuropathies. The analgesic effects are not dependent on changes in muscle tone, Migraine and other headache disorders, although the evidence is conflicting in this indication.

The other uses of botulinum toxin type A that are widely known but not specifically approved by FDA (off-label uses) include treatment of: Pediatric incontinence, incontinence due to overactive bladder, and incontinence due to neurogenic bladder, Anal fissure, Spastic disorders associated with injury or disease of the central nervous system including trauma, stroke, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, or cerebral palsy, Focal dystonias affecting the limbs, face, jaw, or vocal cords, TMJ pain disorders, Diabetic neuropathy, Wound healing, Excessive salivation, Vocal cord dysfunction (VCD) including spasmodic dysphonia and tremor, Reduction of the Masseter muscle for decreasing the size of the lower jaw, treatment and prevention of chronic headache and chronic musculoskeletal pain are emerging uses for botulinum toxin type A. In addition, there is evidence that Botox may aid in weight loss by increasing the gastric emptying time.

What Is Botox?

July 23rd, 2010 Matthew Wong Comments off

Pursuing beauty is the lifelong homework for women. There are many different ways or treatment to make yourself beautiful. Some of you accept plastic surgery, but some of you do not. For those who cannot accept plastic surgery, injection of Botox is probably your second choice.

Before you have decided for a Botox injection, why not understand more about it? Botox is actually a toxin. This toxin is produced by bacterium Clostridum botulinum. The actual name of this Botox toxin is Botulinum toxin. Poisoning in processed meat is caused by this Clostridum botulinum and because of that Botulinum is also known as the fatty poison or sausage poison. When this toxin was first discovered, its main use was medical treatments on muscle spasms. But now, it has been approved by the FDA for cosmetic uses.

The most famous cosmetic effect of Botox is the reduction of nagging facial lines and wrinkles. The injection of Botox can significantly improve the frown lines between the eyebrows. This injection is suitable for people aging from 18 to 65. It is much safer than plastic surgery. But, the effect of Botox is only temporary and it lasts for approximately 4 months. That means you need the injection again after 4 months if you wish to keep the wrinkles away.

Though you may hear of the miracle effect of Botox, you wonder how it works. Botox can disrupt the release of a body chemical named acetylcholine. The chemical acetylcholine is required for triggering muscle contraction. Muscle contraction is one of the main causes of formation of wrinkles and nagging fine lines. By disrupting the muscle contraction, wrinkles can be reduced up to 80%. But, please remember that 80% reduction of wrinkles is only a general figure, the effect for individual varies.

I have to admit that I am so surprised that wrinkles can be reduced or improved by 80%. But, I start to wonder if there is any side effect. I discover that there can be quite a lot of different side effects, some of them are minor but some of them are serious. Minor side effects include headache, tiredness, neck pain, loss of strength, double vision and decreased eyesight. Serious side effects include swallowing, speaking or even breathing problems. I am terrified that serious side effects may last for several months.

Before your Botox injection, you may need to think twice. If you decide to go for it, here are some of my advices. First, you should only have such injection done by a doctor. Do not trust any technicians from salons. Before the doctor actually inject the Botox, make sure you let him know about your muscle, nerve, breathing and other health conditions. There are some situations like skin infection and pregnancy that you should not have Botox injection. If you have any of the above symptoms after Botox injection, you need to consult your doctors for medical help.

History Of The French Manicure

July 3rd, 2010 James Lunden Comments off

The french manicure represents elegance and provides an easy-to-do, clean style. It is also a style that never looks out of place, whether you’re going for a fancy dinner at a members only restaurant, or out for a burger at the local McDonalds. Even though it has been around forever, it’s a manicure style that never has faded from popularity and likely never will.

A Style Made In More Simple Times

Nobody really knows exactly when this technique came into existence. Unfortunately, the original creator will never get full credit for their creation, but it’s history has been traced back to nail salons in France sometime in the 1800′s.

Fast-forward to turn of the century Hollywood, movies stars where seen wearing the french manicure in the movies of the 1920′s. This is the earliest time in American history where the style was first seen, but it has continued increasing in popularity up until modern times.

Simplicity To Suit Everyone

The tips of either the fingernails or toe nails are brushed with a white, or off-white nail polish and the remainder of the nail is colored with a fleshy pink, or sometimes beige color. Countless variations are constantly being created and used either with different color variations. The cost to have a french manicure done at your local nail salon is often slightly higher than a typical manicure and polish, but many regular visits to the same salon may net you a reduced price.

Do Your Own At Home

Many women choose to do the manicure at home by themselves. All you need is your preferable shade of white polish for the tips, a stencil to create the line between the white portion of the nail, pink or beige for the rest of the nail and a clear coat to top it all off. While the technique can take some time to perfect, it’s certainly worth the effort to look stylish like our Hollywood celebrities.

The zinc and iron have anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant properties, and the titanium provides sunscreen protection. You can be assured that these mineral foundations will not create a powdery, dried out look in which all of your fine lines become magnified. In fact, the opposite is true. You will look years younger; your skin will have the dewy youthful appearance and fine lines will diminish.

The body bronzer is used to create a healthy glow all over your body. It comes in shades of Peony, Star Shine and Pure Element. Simply apply using one of the Da Vinci cosmetic brushes and see what a difference the sun-kissed look can make in your appearance.

All About The Different Types Of Cosmetic Makeup

June 1st, 2010 Dr Adel Cossie 1 comment

Cosmetic makeup is a luxury that has been around since ancient times, having been applied by men, women and children alike for a variety of different uses, and well before it became a manufactured item meant for mostly women. However, these days, makeup is a part of everyday life for many individuals throughout the world, and scientists and technology alike rush to give consumers more options, as well to keep up with higher demands and expectations.

Makeup in general has truly advanced in their overall benefits, even within the last several decades or more. However, despite the advancements, the key elements that are used within the facial application of most makeup wearers still remain the same, especially in regards to foundations, eyeliners and mascara, blush, lipstick, gloss, eye shadow and concealers.

In most common, daily routines, the average makeup wearer will usually start things off with a concealer and primer. Concealers are a fantastic way to help hide any unsightly blemishes, as well as to help with discoloration such as under-the-eye shadows or hyperpigmentation. Primers can be used to help makeup go on more smoothly such as with mascara or eye shadow, and can even help with evening out reddish or yellow-looking tones within the skin for a cleaner look.

Once concealers and primers have been applied to the face, the wearer will often apply a foundation which comes in either mineral, powder, wet/dry combination, or that of a liquid-based forms. Foundations are generally used for complete and virtually flawless coverage of the face, and is often blended into the skin along the face and neck in order to appear more natural. While some may have a preference on what type of foundation that they might use, some makeup-goers may prefer to go without.

While there are the normal types of foundation-related powders, there are also special powders that are designed to either highlight or enhance the look of a person’s features. Such enhancers may be what many refer to as bronzers, and there are also lighter-hued powders that are used to highlight certain features in general such as the cheekbones. Sheer-based powders are also available in order to give coverage a more finished look, as well as to help set the makeup in general.

After the application of concealers, powders and foundations have be used, many women will generally set about using blush in order to accent, play down or shape the cheeks and other areas of the face. Some may apply eye shadow to help accentuate the eyes, as well as to help give them a more defined shape. Much depends on overall preference in regards to which is done first, if at all. Some may even apply blush prior to foundation in order to give a softer look, especially in the daytime.

Mascara and eyeliners are often applied before or during the application of eye shadow. Mascara is used to help give eyelashes a longer, fuller look and often come in many different colors such as black, brown and even clear. Eyeliners mostly come in a dry, oil-based form or one that is liquid-based, and are generally used to accent the eyes. Eyeliners can also be used to help make larger eyes appear smaller and softer or to make smaller eyes appear larger, depending on the type of technique that is used.

The finishing touch to the application of cosmetic makeup for most wearers is that of lipstick and lip gloss, both of which offer a number of benefits other than just adding color to the lips. Some may offer protection against UV rays, while others may even help against anti-aging problems, or to plump the wearer’s lips for a fuller look.

Look Like A Young Girl

May 24th, 2010 Matthew Wong Comments off

Every child wish to grow up while every woman wish to stay young. Makeup can help you look younger if you use it properly. The keys for a younger look are radiant skin and light color makeup. You will never see a young girl who wears heavy makeup on her face.

Supple and radiant skin is essential to make you look young. Unluckily, skin cells lose their ability to retain water as you grow older. Some people think that by applying more makeup can help. In fact, it only gives the feeling of heavy makeup on an old woman. Heavier makeup is not a good way to make your skin look radiant and supple. The makeup itself draws moisture from your face. You need to apply sufficient toner and lotion to your face before applying any foundation or makeup. You may even use the toner as a facial treatment mask to enhance its effect.

If your skin is dry, you should choose liquid foundation rather than powder foundation. You can mix a bit of your lotion or moisturizer with your foundation. Apply such foundation mixture to your face and you will find your skin looks much suppler. Finish your flawless foundation makeup with gentle pats on your face with a makeup sponge.

Applying eye shadow is not difficult. For those who have years of experience on makeup, it is just a piece of cake. There are two tips for applying eye shadow. The first is to choose lighter colors of eye shadow. Light colors make you look young and energetic and that are the choices of young girls. The second tip is to use 3 different colors to produce the layer effect. One color of eye shadow fails to show your eye contour.

Eyeline is the most important piece of makeup that you should have. It stays in fashion all the times. With an eyeline properly drawn, your eye looks bigger instantly. The tip for eyeline here is not the best way for drawing an eyeline, it is again the color choice. Black eyeliner is the most common one but it does not suit your light colored eye shadow. For a better choice, you may choose brown instead.

Curling your eyelashes is another important step to make your eyes look bigger. The tip for curling eyelashes is to stay and hold the eyelash curler for a few seconds. Do not press and release and press and release. After curling your eyelashes, it is always a good idea to apply your mascara. For a younger look, you need mascara, but not a lot like the Smokey eye makeup. Apply the mascara in a Z motion from the root to the top.

Rouge is a must if you do not wish to look pale after applying foundation. But the choice of rouge is also important. Young girls have pink or apple red rouge. They do not need the dark or sharp red rouge. Therefore, pink is always your best choice. To better show your contour, you may apply light brown or dark orange rouge first. Then have the pink rouge applied in circle around your cheek.

The last young looking weapon is the water shine lips. Instead of the lipstick, you should switch to lip gloss for lip makeup. Apply the lip gloss onto your lips according to its contour. Then apply a little more onto the centre of the lips to create the water shine effect.

Makeup For The First Time

May 12th, 2010 Tina Mejer Comments off

If you don’t know how to do your makeup you found the right article. But, lets go to instructions on how to do your makeup. First, you should start with foundation. Don’t take the liquid foundation and rub it on your face – this is the first mistake on doing makeup. You have to put some on your fingers and slowly blend it with foundation, for this you can also use cosmetic sponge. Gradually mix with fingers until all color on your face is one color. Don’t be sloppy – you also have to take care about lobes, under the jaw and around your hair.

Now lets do the blush thing. First thing you have to do is choosing the best color for your makeup. The point of doing makeup is really about the color of the makeup. You can choose the best color, but if you are a beginner, you can ask your friends about what they think. For the first makeups, you can choose more basic colors, and slowly test with more advanced colors for makeup. When you apply blush it should be applied to cheeks, sweep the ear blush on the of the audit, then from the line of the ear and then end the apple of your check.

So for now we have done a lot of things for our makeup. The next thing is doing eye shadow. That’s is maybe the most tricky part, as you have to be really concentrated and steady. You take you lightest color – that’s your basic color for the makeup, apply it over the eyebrow, then do a shadow on the lower lid. This will make your make look great, because your eyes will look bigger and warmer. If you do a mistake, you have to clean everything up and start over – so this takes a lot of practice.

We are almost done with our makeup, but let’s not forget about our lips. First thing about doing makeup on the lips is using lip liner. best is to use neutral lip liner and then you follow your lip line. then, you can pick any color of your lipstick, just be careful to goes along with the rest of your makeup. You can also use brilliant ensemble – this is very popular these days.

Then, if you want to shine a supplement you can use a clear gloss. Be careful not to gloss over. Once you get the blocking of the implementation of the component you can experiment and get the look that suits you. Here is a hint of lipstick, if you want longer-lasting lipstick apply a lip balm before applying lipstick, it will keep the lipstick in place a little longer.

If you practise a lot with your makeup, you will be confident that your makeup is all shiny and just the way you like it. You can go out and have some great time partying. When you know you look pretty, you have much more self-confidence. That’s the best effect of makeup.

For the end, just a last tip. Always remove makeup for the eyes thoroughly before going to bed. This helps to keep healthy and prevent lashes any mascara from entering your eyes during the night. There are many ready-made eye make-up removers available on the market for this purpose. They come in many forms, ranging from eye lotions eye pads. While removing mascara, colour avoid finding on the sensitive area below the lower lashes. Roll a cotton bud dipped in a cosmetic cleanser on eyelashes, taking mascara down on the fabric. Repeat until all the mascara is over.
